Early January Winter Storms Update Three

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected.

Significant snowfall expected today through Wednesday for most of New Brunswick, changing to rain over southern regions.

A low pressure system approaching from the west will move into the region on Wednesday then slowly track across central New Brunswick Wednesday night. Snow over western New Brunswick will slowly spread eastward this afternoon and evening. As the low approaches tonight, the snow will increase in intensity overnight into Wednesday morning. The snow will change to rain over southern New Brunswick on Wednesday.

Total snowfall accumulations of 15 to 30 cm are expected with the highest amounts over central and northeastern regions. The snow will persist over portions of northern New Brunswick Wednesday night.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.
