This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Central Highlands Maine, Far

Eastern Maine, Far Northern Maine, North Woods Maine and Penobscot

Valley Maine.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

A storm system will approach the area this weekend. Snow, sleet, and

freezing rain are likely across the area Saturday night and Sunday.

To the north, mainly snow and sleet is expected, with light

accumulations. Meanwhile, there will be a period of accumulating ice

across the Central Highlands to the eastern International Border.

Weather spotters are encouraged to report significant weather

conditions according to Standard Operating Procedures.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County

Significant snowfall expected beginning Saturday evening.

Total snowfall: 15 to 20 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 40 to 60 km/h.

Locations: central and northern New Brunswick.

Time span: Saturday evening through Sunday night.

Remarks: Heavy snow is expected to spread across parts of New Brunswick on Saturday evening, with strong winds and local blowing snow possible. The snow will likely change briefly to freezing rain or ice pellets over south-central parts of the province on Saturday night. Coastal regions along the Fundy shore should remain warm enough for rain with this system. There still remains some uncertainty with the track of this system at this time. The rain-snow line may shift slightly and warnings may be required as this system draws nearer.

Conditions will improve across the Maritimes on Monday.
