LATITUDE 42.7 N AND LONGITUDE 62.0 W... ABOUT 135 NAUTICAL MILES
OR 250 KM SOUTHEAST OF HALIFAX.
CRISTOBAL IS MOVING EAST NORTHEAST AT 26 KNOTS... 48 KM/H.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE ESTIMATED AT 50 KNOTS... 93
KM/H AND CENTRAL PRESSURE AT 1001 MB.
CRISTOBAL BEGAN TURNING MORE EASTWARD IN THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS
SO IT LOOKS LIKELY THAT IT WILL PASS SOUTH OF SABLE ISLAND. STRONG
WINDS HAVE REMAINED WELL OFFSHORE. SUSTAINED GALES OF 34 KNOTS OR
63 KM/H WITH PEAK WINDS OF 46 KNOTS OR 85 KM/H WERE REPORTED AT 5 PM
ADT AT BUOY 44137 IN THE EAST SCOTIAN SLOPE MARINE AREA AS THE STORM
CENTRE PASSED ABOUT 30 NAUTICAL MILES OR 56 KM TO THE NORTHWEST OF
THE BUOY POSITION.
HEAVY RAINFALL WHICH FELL OVER ATLANTIC COASTAL SECTIONS OF NOVA
SCOTIA HAS ENDED IN THE WESTERN HALF OF THE PROVINCE AND WILL END
IN CAPE BRETON THIS EVENING.
IMPACTS NOTED...
THE PUBLIC HAVE REPORTED FLOODED BASEMENTS IN THE CAPE SABLE AREA
AND ROAD WASHOUTS NEAR SAMBRO INCLUDING A WASHOUT OF THE ROAD TO
CRYSTAL CRESCENT BEACH. THE MEDIA HAVE REPORTED FLOODING IN
PORTUGUESE COVE AND KETCH HARBOUR.

NOTEWORTHY RAINFALL ACCUMLATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH CRISTOBAL TO
5 PM ADT INCLUDE...
165 MM AT BACCARO POINT AT THE EXTREME SOUTHERN TIP OF NOVA SCOTIA
95 MM AT WESTERN HEAD NEAR LIVERPOOL
91 MM AT SHEARWATER AIRPORT.
WITHIN THE HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY RAINFALL AMOUNTS HAVE
RANGED CONSIDERABLY... FROM 145 MM IN THE SAMBRO AREA TO ONLY 15 MM
AT THE HALIFAX AIRPORT... AND VARYING AMOUNTS IN BETWEEN. 34 MM FELL
AT THE HURRICANE CENTRE IN DOWNTOWN DARTMOUTH.
THE MOST INTENSE RAINS REPORTED WERE...
IN 1 HOUR...29 MM AT BACCARO POINT AND 22 MM AT WESTERN HEAD.
IN 2 HOURS...53 MM AT BACCARO POINT AND 38 MM AT SHEARWATER AIRPORT.
IN 6 HOURS...120 MM AT BACCARO POINT.
