Blowing snow warning for
Bathurst and Chaleur Region continued

Very strong winds and snow will give lowered visibilities Sunday mainly along coastal areas.

This is a warning that an extended period of blowing snow with poor visibilities is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system approaching Nova Scotia from Cape Hatteras will rapidly deepen on Sunday as it tracks just off the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia. This will spread snow and very strong winds over New Brunswick and the Gulf of St Lawrence. This will also give blowing snow which will be worst along the gulf coast of the province. Total snowfall amounts from this storm will be in the 25 to possibly 35 centimetre range over southeastern parts of the province with lesser amounts elsewhere.

The strong winds and low pressure will produce elevated water levels along the coast from Miramichi south, and waves will be building on Sunday as well. The worst threat for coastal flooding will be Sunday evening for most of the coast north of Moncton. Southeast of Moncton the threat will be both for the afternoon and evening, but with less wave activity and more storm surge.

Snowfall amounts of up to 20 centimetres are forecast for Sunday.

Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County issued

Wind gusts of up to 90 km/hour are forecast for Sunday.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system near Cape Hatteras will intensify as it approaches Nova Scotia tonight and Sunday. This storm will bring a large swath of heavy snow to Nova Scotia along with blowing snow in strong northerly winds. Over Western Nova Scotia and the valley, white out conditions can be expected. 20 to 40 centimetres of snow is forecast for most of Nova Scotia with the exception of Eastern Nova Scotia which is forecast to change over to rain for several hours on Sunday before changing back to snow. In Eastern Nova Scotia wind gusts of up to 90 km/hour are forecast. In addition higher than normal water levels with rough pounding surf due to high waves are expected along the Atlantic coast Sunday morning. Storm surge warnings are in effect over Northern Nova Scotia for Antigonish County and the Cape Breton coasts along the Gulf of St Lawrence. High water levels and rough pounding surf due to high waves are expected late Sunday afternoon and in the evening.

A Les Suetes wind warning is in effect for Inverness County - Mabou and north with gust to 90 km/h beginning Sunday morning and ending in the evening.
