Winter Storm Quinn Update One

Wind warning in effect for:

Shelburne County
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

A low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia tonight. A band of strong easterly winds will spread across the province overnight tonight and Thursday.

Over exposed areas of the coast of Shelburne and Queens counties these easterlies are forecast to gust to 90 km/h overnight tonight and Thursday morning.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.

Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Woodstock and Carleton County
Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Snow expected tonight into Thursday and again on Friday and Saturday.

A low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia tonight. Snow will develop over New Brunswick from the southwest tonight and reach the northeast by noon Thursday. Snowfall amounts are expected to be in the 15-20 centimetre range.

The precipitation will taper off in the south to showers or flurries by Friday morning. However in the north snow will continue overnight into Friday, possibly requiring snowfall warnings to be extended northwards.

Later on Friday into Saturday a second disturbance will spread snow in from the east, initially mixed with a little rain. Snowfall amounts with this second system are not expected to be significant at this time.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Snow expected tonight into Thursday and again on Friday and Saturday.

A low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia tonight. Snow will develop over New Brunswick from the southwest tonight and reach the northeast by noon Thursday. Snowfall amounts are expected to be in the 15-20 centimetre range.
