Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Fredericton and Southern York County
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.
Snow today will changeover to freezing rain starting tonight.
A developing low pressure system is forecast to track eastward across southern Quebec today, then pass just north of the Maritimes on Saturday. Snow has already spread into much of the province and is expected to changeover to freezing rain this evening. Freezing rain will last for most of the evening in the south, and well into the overnight hours in the north. The freezing rain will then change to rain or drizzle as temperatures rise above the freezing mark overnight in the south, and towards Saturday morning in the north.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
