Rainfall warning in effect for:

Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County

Heavy rain is expected.

Rainfall amounts tonight trough Sunday night: 30 to 60 mm.

Total amounts during the Easter long weekend: 120 to 180 mm.

Locations: Cape Breton and eastern mainland Nova Scotia.

Remarks: The rain will taper off to showers Sunday night.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Kings County P.E.I.

Significant ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Locations: Eastern Prince Edward Island

Time span: Until Sunday morning.

Remarks: The freezing rain will end Sunday morning. Significant amounts of freezing rain are expected.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and extremely hazardous. Extended and widespread utility outages are possible.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Significant ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Locations: Halifax East, Guysborough, Colchester North and South, Pictou, Antigonish, and into western Cape Breton.

Remarks: The freezing rain will spread to central regions and change to rain Sunday morning. Significant amounts of freezing rain are expected.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and extremely hazardous. Extended and widespread utility outages are possible.
