This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Maine, west
central Maine, western Maine and northern New Hampshire.
.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.
River rises are expected with potential for ice movement due to the
combination of a melting snow pack and rain this weekend. While the
ice jam flooding threat is relatively low this weekend into the
beginning of next week, it is not zero. Maintain situational
awareness on any area rivers that still have significant ice cover.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.
Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Additional snow
accumulations of up to two inches for a storm total of 1 to 3
inches, sleet accumulations of between one and two tenths of an
inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Less
snow, ice, and sleet south and southeast of I-95.
* WHERE...Northern Somerset, Southeast Aroostook, Northern
Piscataquis and Northern Penobscot Counties.
* WHEN...Until 10 PM EDT this evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Woodstock and Carleton County
Significant ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.
Locations: northern and eastern New Brunswick.
Time span: tonight into Sunday morning for most areas.
Remarks: Precipitation will begin as snow this afternoon, and then transition through freezing rain overnight into Sunday morning before changing to rain. Freezing rain may linger into the afternoon hours for northeastern most areas of the province.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and extremely hazardous. Utility outages may occur.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.
Locations: Pictou, Antigonish, and Guysborough counties, and all of Cape Breton
Time span: late this evening ending Sunday morning in most areas.
Remarks: Precipitation will begin as flurries or ice pellets this evening over eastern mainland NS, and over Cape Breton tonight. Precipitation will transition to freezing rain tonight and continue into Sunday morning before changing to rain. Parts of Victoria county may see freezing rain last into Sunday afternoon causing an increased risk for ice build up.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Utility outages may occur.

Rainfall warning in effect for:
Saint John and County
Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.
Total rainfall: 25 to 40 mm.
Locations: southernmost regions of New Brunswick.
Time span: today into Sunday morning.
Remarks: A mix of snow and rain, with a risk of freezing rain will change to rain, at times heavy, this evening. The rain is expected to taper to showers Sunday morning.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Queens County P.E.I.
Location: Prince Edward Island
Time frame: Late this evening to Sunday morning.
Remarks: Freezing rain may be heavy at times overnight tonight before an eventual changeover to rain Sunday morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
