Discussion.

Late in the day on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, a warm front
associated with a low pressure system near the Great Lakes began to
track through the Maritimes. This warm front slowly tracked
northward throughout Thursday, January 24 and the centre of the low
pressure system tracked over the province during the early morning
hours of Friday, January 25, 2019.

This storm produced significant freezing rain and rainfall over a
large portion of the province as well as very strong southerly winds
in parts of southern New Brunswick.

A strong area of low pressure passed north of Nova Scotia Thursday
night bringing significant amounts of rainfall to some areas, and
widespread strong wind gusts that knocked out power to thousands of
homes and businesses. The following are total rainfall amounts (in
