SPECIAL WEATHER SUMMARY MESSAGE FOR NEW BRUNSWICK ISSUED BY
ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 6:50 PM AST THURSDAY 29 JANUARY 2009.
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FROM THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES RAPIDLY
INTENSIFIED LAST NIGHT AS IT CROSSED THE MARITIMES. SNOW AHEAD OF
THE LOW SPREAD ACROSS ALL OF THE MARITIMES BUT CHANGED TO RAIN OVER
NOVA SCOTIA.. AND SOUTHERN NEW BRUNSWICK. MANY AREAS EXPERIENCED A
PERIOD OF ICE PELLETS AND FREEZING RAIN BEFORE THE CHANGE OVER TO
RAIN. A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF RAIN FOLLOWED THE SNOW CREATING MESSY
CONDITIONS.
NORTHERN AND CENTRAL NEW BRUNSWICK RECEIVED ONLY SNOW WITH STRONG
WINDS REDUCING VISIBILITIES IN BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. SNOWFALL
AMOUNTS WERE GENERALLY 20 TO 30 CMS.
