...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 AM EDT FOR
WASHINGTON COUNTY...

AT 1010 PM EDT...FLASH FLOODING PERSISTED ACROSS THE WARNED AREA.
RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3.50 TO 5.00 INCHES...WITH ISOLATED TOTALS
TO AROUND 6.00 INCHES...HAVE OCCURRED ACROSS THE COUNTY TODAY.
LIGHTER RAINS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT
WITH ADDITIONAL LOCALIZED TOTALS UP TO A HALF INCH POSSIBLE. SOME
ROADS HAVE BEEN WASHED OUT...WITH OTHER ROADS CLOSED OR COVERED WITH
WATER. TREES HAVE ALSO FALLEN ACROSS SOME ROADS DUE TO THE
SATURATED SOIL. STREAM LEVELS WILL REMAIN ELEVATED THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT...WITH STANDING WATER IN LOW LYING AND POOR
DRAINAGE AREAS.

LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
VANCEBORO...TOPSFIELD...PRINCETON...MEDDYBEMPS...GRAND LAKE STREAM
AND CALAIS

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.

Grand Lake and Queens County continued

Total event rainfall amounts of 150 millimetres or more have occured over areas in the southwest of New Brunswick.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system in the Gulf of Maine will track across New Brunswick on Saturday. A leading warm front associated with this system has already spread rain at times heavy across the province. Most areas of the province have received at least 50 millimetres while some areas in the southwest have received 150 millimetres. The rain at times heavy will taper off to showers overnight.

ACROSS WASHINGTON COUNTY. THE RAIN WILL MOVE NORTHEAST AND DIMINISH
OVER THE NEXT 1 TO 2 HOURS...WITH ADDITIONAL LOCALIZED RAINFALL
TOTALS OF UP TO 1 INCH POSSIBLE. RAINFALL TOTALS OF 3 TO 4
INCHES...WITH LOCALLY GREATER AMOUNTS...HAVE ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS
MUCH OF WASHINGTON COUNTY. MOTORISTS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR WATER

There has been a stationary line of showers set up over Digby County
in the Smith's cove and landsdowne road regions giving locally
Higher amounts of rain over a small area where there have been
reports of local flooding.  Another area of showers is expected to
sweep through the region this evening giving additional local
rainfall amounts of up to 15 mm to this area.


The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as
warnings may be required or extended.

Rainfall amounts of 50 to possibly 70 millimetres are possible for much of New Brunswick except southeasternmost regions.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system east of Cape Cod will approach New Brunswick tonight and is expected to move across the province on Saturday. A slow moving warm front ahead of this system has spread rain over most of the province. Southern and Western New Brunswick have received anywhere from 40 to 70 millimetres of rain which will spread to the northeast by the time the rain tapers off on Saturday. Locally amounts could exceed 90 millimetres, especially in thundershowers. Southeasternmost regions of the province should see lesser total rainfall amounts generally in the 30 to 45 millimetre range.
