Snowfall warning in effect for:
  • Pictou County
Snowfall, with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.

A low pressure system will strengthen today as it tracks northeast toward Cape Breton. The low will move across Newfoundland overnight tonight. Precipitation from this system will change from rain mixed with snow to predominantly snow over central and northern regions this afternoon. The snow will taper to flurries late this evening. Generally 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected across these regions with the highest amounts expected over higher terrain.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
