Excessive Heat Warning Issued For the Northern Half of Nova Scotia

9:53 p.m. ADT Thursday 13 July 2023
Temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius will continue.

Time span: continuing Friday.

Minimum temperature tonight: 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature Friday: near 30 degrees Celsius (Humidex 34 to 38).

Locations: Digby County to Hants County, as well as northern mainland Nova Scotia.

Remarks: High humidity is forecast to continue tomorrow. Cooler conditions can be found along parts of the coast in onshore breezes.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Check on older family, friends and neighbours. Make sure they are cool and drinking water

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
