WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM TO 2 PM EDT SUNDAY. THE

HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.


* WINDS...SOUTHEAST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS BEWTEEN 50 AND 60 MPH.


* TIMING...SUNDAY MORNING INTO EARLY SUNDAY AFTERNOON.


* IMPACTS...MODERATE IMPACT. WINDS WILL CAUSE DOWNED TREES AND

BRANCHES TO SNAP WITH NUMEROUS POWER OUTAGES POSSIBLE. BLOWN

DOWN DEBRIS MAY BLOCK SOME ROADWAYS. MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO

BUILDINGS IS POSSIBLE.

Special weather statement for New Brunswick issued by Environment

Canada at 3:44 PM ADT Saturday 16 April 2011.


A low pressure system over the Great Lakes regions today will move

over Central Quebec by Sunday evening. A frontal trough associated

to the low will approach the Maritimes later tonight.

Precipitation ahead of the trough should begin overnight.


Over northern regions of New Brunswick precipitation should begin as

a mixture of snow and ice pellets after midnight with a changeover to

freezing rain Sunday morning then finally to rain late Sunday

morning. Current indications are suggesting that the duration of the

freezing rain event should be brief. Over southern regions of New

Brunswick the precipitation is expected to start overnight as a

mixture of rain snow and ice pellets but should quickly change over

to rain early Sunday morning. Highest rainfall amounts should be in

the 30 millimetres range for southwestern regions. Strong southerly

winds are also expected with this system especially along the Fundy

coast where a wind warning is in effect.

Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County issued

Southeast winds gusting to 90 km/h expected Sunday morning.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

An intense trough of low pressure will move through New Brunswick on Sunday. Strong southeasterly winds are forecast ahead of the trough. The strongest winds are expected along the Fundy coast where winds are forecast to gust up to 90 km/h in the morning.
