Special weather statement in effect for:

Campbellton and eastern half of Restigouche County
Warm, wet and windy for Friday and Saturday followed by a shot of snow for Saturday night.

Total rainfall: 20-50 mm. Locally 60 mm possible.

Total snowfall: 5-10 cm and locally possibly exceeding 15 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 70-90 km/h with the highest gusts along the Fundy coast, beginning Friday and tapering off late on Saturday.

Locations: Most of New Brunswick, except the extreme northwest and the southeast.

Time span: Light rain beginning on Friday, intensifying on Saturday, and moving east of the province late on Saturday. Snow starting late on Saturday and passing east of New Brunswick overnight into Sunday.

Remarks: A low pressure system approaching from the Great Lakes will bring rain to the province beginning on Friday and intensifying overnight into Saturday. Winds will intensify ahead of this system, especially along the Fundy Coast. Conditions will improve Saturday night.

MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a

* Flood Watch for Portions of Maine. Portions of New Hampshire.,
  including the following areas, in Maine, Androscoggin, Central
  Interior Cumberland, Central Somerset, Coastal Cumberland, Coastal
  Waldo, Coastal York, Interior Cumberland Highlands, Interior
  Waldo, Interior York, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Northern Franklin,
  Northern Oxford, Sagadahoc, Southern Franklin, Southern Oxford and
  Southern Somerset. In New Hampshire, Belknap, Cheshire, Coastal
  Rockingham, Eastern Hillsborough, Interior Rockingham, Merrimack,
  Northern Carroll, Northern Grafton, Southern Carroll, Southern
  Coos, Southern Grafton, Strafford, Sullivan and Western And
  Central Hillsborough.

* From late Thursday night through Saturday morning.

* Moderate to heavy rainfall of up to 2 to 3 inches is expected late
  Thursday night and Friday over the forecast area with highest
  totals expected over the White and western Maine Mountains. In
  addition unseasonably warm and humid conditions, plus the
  rainfall, will contribute to significant and widespread snow melt
  which may release an additional 1 to 2 inches of water.

* Strong rises are expected on streams and rivers in the watch area.
  A few rivers are forecast to reach and/or exceed bankfull. Smaller
  stream systems are expected to respond and crest Friday while main
  stems may not crest until late Saturday. In addition, remnant snow
  banks are likely to block drains which may lead to urban flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

Maximum wind gusts: 70-90 km/h with the highest gusts along the Atlantic Coast.

Storm surge: higher than normal water levels are expected from Shelburne east to Sheet Harbour near 4 am AST on Saturday. Significant coastal flooding is not expected at this point, but if the storm intensifies there may be minor flooding.

Wave heights: up to 6 metres, breaking higher upon approaching the shore. For the Atlantic Coast beginning early Saturday and persisting most of the day.

Locations: Western Nova Scotia and Cumberland County.

Time span: Light rain beginning on Friday, intensifying on Saturday, and moving east of the Province overnight into Sunday.

High tide: near 4 am AST on Saturday.

Remarks: A low pressure system approaching from the Great Lakes will bring rain to the province beginning on Friday and intensifying overnight into Saturday.
