* WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Heavy snow and blowing

  snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches expected.

  Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. Wind chills as low as 30

  below zero expected.

* WHERE...Central Washington and Coastal Washington Counties.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 9 AM EST Saturday.

  For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 1 PM

  EST Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions.

  Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility

  and cause hazardous travel. The hazardous conditions could

  impact the evening commute. Strong winds could cause damage to

  trees and powerlines. The cold wind chills could cause

  frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather

conditions will make travel extremely dangerous. If you must

travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle

in case of an emergency.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will

combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can

occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and

gloves.

Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

Woodstock and Carleton County

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

Coldest wind chills: -36 to -33.

Locations: northwestern New Brunswick.

Time span: late tonight until Saturday morning.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Winter storm warning in effect for:

Acadian Peninsula

Total snowfall: 15 to 35 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 70 to 80 km/h.

Locations: southern and eastern New Brunswick.

Time span: ending Saturday morning.

Remarks: Snow, possibly mixed at first with rain near the Fundy coast, will become heavy at times this evening and continue overnight. Strong northerly winds and plummeting temperatures will give blowing snow and cold windchill values tonight into Saturday.

Conditions are expected to improve on Saturday, although the cold windchill values will persist into Sunday.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
