...HEAVY RAINFALL MAY CAUSE FLOODING TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY...
.Rain is expected to begin this evening and become heavy at times
by Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon 1 to 2 inches of rain
is expected with some amounts as high as 3 inches possible. This
rain in combination with wet soil conditions and already high
river levels will cause additional rises on area rivers. Minor
river flooding is possible as well as ponding of water in urban
and poor drainage areas.

The Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of Maine and New Hampshire, including the following
areas, in Maine, Androscoggin, Coastal Cumberland, Coastal
Waldo, Coastal York, Interior Cumberland, Interior Waldo,
Interior York, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, and Sagadahoc. In New
Hampshire, Belknap, Coastal Rockingham, Eastern Hillsborough,
Interior Rockingham, Merrimack, Strafford, and Western And
Central Hillsborough.
* From 1 AM EST Saturday through Saturday evening
* A period of heavy rain will lead to rises on area rivers. Minor
flooding is possible on Saturday.
* Ponding of water may occur in urban and poor drainage areas
Saturday morning.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Central Highlands Maine,
Coastal DownEast Maine, Far Eastern Maine, Far Northern Maine,
Interior DownEast Maine, North Woods Maine and Penobscot Valley
Maine.
.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.
Precipitation is expected to develop across the region this
evening and continue tonight. Some patchy freezing drizzle is also
possible across the higher terrain of the central highlands late
this afternoon through early this evening. Across Downeast areas,
precipitation will be mainly in the form of rain. However, across the
north, precipitation is expected to be in the form of snow before
gradually mixing with and changing to rain toward daybreak Saturday,
with an inch or two of snow accumulation possible.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.
No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

Maximum wind gusts: 60 to 90 km/h with higher gusts near the Cape Breton Highlands.
Locations: Nova Scotia.
Time frame: Saturday morning into Sunday.
Remarks: Rain will spread across the province Saturday and become heavy, at times. Strong southerly winds and mild temperatures will lead to significant snow melt and run off. The rain is expected to taper to showers on Sunday.

Fredericton and Southern York County
Significant rain, freezing rain, snow and wind for this weekend.
Total snowfall: 5 to 15 cm over northernmost regions.
Total rainfall: 20 to 40 mm. Higher amounts possible along the Fundy coast.
Maximum wind gusts: easterly becoming southerly with gusts between 50 to 80 km/h.
Locations: New Brunswick.
Time span: Saturday morning through Saturday night.
Remarks: Snow is expected to begin early Saturday over northern regions, and then transition through freezing precipitation before changing to rain towards evening. Over central regions, some freezing rain is likely in the morning as temperatures slowly climb above the freezing mark. Over southern regions, rain will prevail for most of the day as strong southerly winds quickly push temperatures well above the freezing mark, leading to significant snow melt and run off.
