...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT TUESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a Heat Advisory,
which is in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Tuesday.

* Heat Index Values...95 to 100 due to temperatures in the mid
90s, and dewpoints in the upper 60s.

* Timing...Tuesday afternoon.

* Impacts...The combination of heat and humidity will make it more
difficult for the human body to regulate its temperature. Heat
stroke and heat exhaustion are possible for those spending
significant amounts of time exposed to the heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned
room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and
neighbors, especially older adults who live alone, to make sure
they are able to stay cool.

People who work or exercise outside or in hot environments, and
children attending summer camps or outdoor sports practices should
take extra precautions. When possible...reschedule strenuous
activities to early morning. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting
clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

Heat Warning in effect for:

Campbellton and eastern half of Restigouche County
western half of Restigouche County
Temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius are expected for the next 3 days.

A warm and increasingly humid airmass will remain over the Maritimes into the middle of this week.

Maximum daytime temperatures near 30 C will persist over much of New Brunswick through Wednesday, with overnight lows near 19 C providing little relief. Humidity is expected to increase on Tuesday and Wednesday, with maximum humidex values reaching 36 to 40.

Maximum temperatures along some coastal communities, notably along the Bay of Fundy, will be somewhat cooler. However, areas slightly inland are still likely to reach heat warning criteria over the next few days.

Temperatures across the province are expected to cool off somewhat beginning Wednesday evening as a trough of low pressure begins to move across the region.

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NBstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.
