Storm Summary Number 15 for Holiday Storm from the Southwest to
the Northern Tier

...Snow gradually tapering off across portions of the lower Great
Lakes and the Northeast...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the Tug Hill Plateau of
New York and also northern Maine.

Winter Weather Advisories are in place across portions of
northeast Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, far western and
north-central New York, and eastern Maine.

At 900 PM EST...A low pressure system with an estimated central
pressure of 991 mb, 29.26 inches of mercury, was located just east
of Point Lepreau, Canada. An occluded front stemmed east of the
surface low with an attached cold front that extends well away
from the East Coast of the U.S. National Weather Service Doppler
radars and surface observations indicated bands of light to
moderate snow over portions of the lower Great Lakes, and the
interior of the Northeast.

....... The low center moving across Atlantic Canada will continue to pull
away from the Northeast overnight. Several inches of additional
snow is forecast downwind of the lower Great Lakes going through
New Years Day, with localized amounts of in excess of a foot over
the Tug Hill Plateau of New York downwind of Lake Ontario.
Meanwhile, a few inches of additional snow will be possible across
northern New England before the snow comes to an end.
