  LATE TONIGHT ALONG THE HANCOCK AND WASHINGTON COUNTY COASTS.

* TIMING...AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE AT 1 AM TUESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...POTENTIAL FOR MINOR BEACH EROSION. A FEW LOW LYING
  ROADWAYS RUNNING ALONG THE BEACH COULD EXPERIENCE MINOR SAND
  AND ROCK WASH-UP.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

* FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING

* LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST TODAY AND
  MOVE NORTHEAST INTO THE GULF OF MAINE TUESDAY. THIS LOW MAY
  PRODUCE UP TO 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN ACROSS MUCH OF THE
  AREA...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE HEAVIEST
  RAINFALL SHOULD OCCUR TONIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY... BUT RUNOFF
  AND ADDITIONAL SNOWMELT WILL KEEP THE THREAT FOR FLOODING GOING
  THROUGH AT LEAST TUESDAY NIGHT. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS
  EXPECTED ON THE COASTAL PLAIN...AS WELL AS THE EAST SLOPES OF
  THE WHITE MOUNTAINS NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE MAINE FOOTHILLS.

* RIVERS ARE ALREADY GRADUALLY ON THE RISE FROM SNOWMELT OVER
  THE PAST FEW WEEKS. 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAINFALL WILL ALLOW
  SOME RIVERS TO RISE TO BANKFULL AND EVEN OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.
  URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING IS ALSO EXPECTED...ESPECIALLY
  TONIGHT AND THE MORNING HOURS ON TUESDAY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Mattawamkeag River Above Mattawamkeag
* until further notice...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 14:30 PM Monday the stage was 13.5 feet
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.5 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 13.8 feet by
  Wednesday evening. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impacts...Minor lowland flooding is expected...and flooding of
Bancroft Road is possible.

Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Fredericton and Southern York County
Rain, heavy at times is expected on Tuesday. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

A low pressure system will develop over New England Tuesday morning and move across northern New Brunswick late in the day. The area of rain associated with this system will reach western New Brunswick this evening and then spread across the rest of the regions overnight. Amounts in excess of 25 mm are expected before the rain ends Tuesday night.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Don't approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

  • Lunenburg County
Rain, heavy at times is expected. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

A low pressure system will develop over New England Tuesday morning. Rain will spread across the province on Tuesday before ending Tuesday night. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 35 mm are expected over southwestern portions of Nova Scotia.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away.

Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
