SPECIAL WEATHER SUMMARY MESSAGE FOR NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ISSUED
BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 6:35 PM NDT THURSDAY 6 OCTOBER 2011.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FORMED OFF THE AMERICAN SEABOARD EARLIER THIS
WEEK AND TRACKED SOUTH OF NOVA SCOTIA ON WEDNESDAY. THE LOW MOVED
OVER THE SOUTH COAST OF NEWFOUNDLAND THIS MORNING AND TRACKED OUT
OVER BONAVISTA BAY LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

PRECIPITATION AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM BEGAN OVER WESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND ON
WEDNESDAY MORNING AND CONTINUED THROUGH THURSDAY. WHILE RAIN
DOMINATED AT MOST OBSERVING SITES, MANY PARTS OF NORTHERN
NEWFOUNDLAND SAW NOTABLE SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS, ESPECIALLY OVER
HIGHER TERRAIN. IN ADDITION, VERY STRONG SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS
DEVELOPED TO THE EAST OF THE TRACK OF THE LOW WHILE STRONG NORTH TO
NORTHWESTERLY WINDS PREVAILED WEST OF ITS TRACK.

AND TRACKED ACROSS THE MARITIMES WEDNESDAY. THE SYSTEM BROUGHT
STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY RAIN ACROSS PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND.
