3:35 PM AST Friday 10 March 2017
Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

Woodstock and Carleton County
A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

Cold arctic air moving into New Brunswick tonight combined with brisk northwest winds behind a winter storm passing southeast of the Maritimes

will give extreme windchill values near minus 35 for the northern half of the province early Saturday morning.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
A low pressure system will pass south of Nova Scotia tonight as it intensifies and tracks towards Newfoundland. Snow from this system is expected to reach the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia this afternoon in the south and early this evening further north.

Model guidance is still keeping the highest snowfall amounts offshore with near 10 cm forecast for Cape Breton and 5 cm for Guysborough county. A slight shift northward could result in higher snowfall amounts for these and other regions of Nova Scotia.
