Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Fredericton and Southern York County
Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring.
A low pressure system developing over the southeastern United States will slowly track across the region on Saturday. This system will bring heavy rainfall to the region followed by a return to much colder temperatures. A changeover to freezing rain is expected tonight and into Saturday resulting in a prolonged period of freezing rain with significant ice accretion. The precipitation will turn to snow and ice pellets over northern New Brunswick before ending Saturday evening.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.
