Northwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h will develop Friday night.

A developing low pressure system over New England will intensify as it tracks northward tonight and early Friday to lie over lake Melville by Friday afternoon. It will then continue to strengthen as it moves off the Mid Labrador Coast Friday night.

Rain ahead of this system has already developed over Labrador City and will spread to the remainder of Labrador tonight. The rain will be heavy at times for some areas on Friday, with the highest accumulations forecast over the north coast where 50 to 75 millimeters are expected by Saturday morning.

In addition, strong northwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h will develop along the Labrador coast north of Groswater bay Friday night as the low moves offshore.
