Locations: southern New Brunswick

Total snowfall and ice pellet amounts: 5 to 10 cm.

Duration of freezing rain: near 3 hours.

Time span: tonight through Friday afternoon.

Similar storms in the past have caused traffic delays and hazardous driving conditions.

Remarks: Precipitation will begin as snow before transitioning through ice pellets and freezing rain, and then to rain before ending in the late afternoon. Scattered showers in the evening will give a slight risk of freezing rain again Friday evening.

Travel could become difficult. If you must travel, be prepared for delays and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Grand Falls and Victoria County

Locations: northern New Brunswick

Total snowfall: 15 to 30 cm.

Time span: late tonight until Friday night.

Remarks: Snow will become heavy at times Friday, tapering to flurries Friday night.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Locations: Queens, Sunbury, Carleton and southern York Counties.

Duration of freezing rain: near 4 hours.

Time frame: Friday morning through early Friday afternoon.

Remarks: Freezing rain may persist longer over low-lying areas.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
