Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Total rainfall amount: 40 mm except 70 in areas of heaviest rain.

Locations: northwestern and most of central and southern New Brunswick.

Time span: continuing tonight, tapering off Monday afternoon.

Remarks: A trough of low pressure will continue to approach New Brunswick spreading rain across the province tonight and Monday. Because of the warm and humid air mass that is in place, embedded areas of torrential rain and thunderstorms are possible. Similar storms in the past have caused localized flooding in poor drainage areas.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NBstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.

11:10 a.m. ADT Sunday 16 July 2023
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Total rainfall amount: 40 mm except 70 in areas of heaviest rain.

Locations: most of central and southern New Brunswick.

Time span: beginning this afternoon or evening and tapering off Monday afternoon.

Remarks: A trough of low pressure will approach New Brunswick later today and spread rain across the area mainly tonight and Monday. Currently, heavy shower along parts of the Fundy coast could give 20 to 30 mm over the next few hours. Additionally, some central and southern areas of the province could see heavy showers or thundershowers later this afternoon before the main band of precipitation moves in tonight.

Because of the warm and humid air mass that is in place, embedded areas of torrential rain and thunderstorms are possible. Rainfall rates could locally reach 20 mm per hour.
