Heat Alerts issued for most of New Brunswick & most of Nova Scotia

Heat Warning in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County
Temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius are expected.

A much warmer airmass will reach New Brunswick on Thursday and remain in place through Friday and Friday night. Maximum daytime temperatures near 30 degrees are expected on Thursday. On Friday, hot and humid conditions will prevail, with maximum temperatures ranging from 30 to 34 degrees and humidex values between 36 and 39. Minimum temperatures overnight on Thursday and Friday nights will remain near 18 degrees, providing little relief from the heat. Temperatures will remain cooler for coastal communities along the Bay of Fundy due to onshore breezes. Temperatures and humidity levels will fall Saturday as a cold front moves across the province.

Reduce your heat risk. Schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Outdoor workers should take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick
A hot and humid airmass will reach New Brunswick on Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, a very warm airmass will move into western parts of the province. Hot and humid conditions will then continue to build across the rest of the province, with maximum daytime temperatures expected to surpass 30 degrees on Friday. Humidex values will reach 30 to 34 Thursday afternoon, and then 36 to 39 on Friday afternoon. Temperatures will remain cooler for coastal communities due to onshore breezes. Temperatures and humidity levels will fall on Saturday as a cold front moves across the province.

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
A much warmer airmass will reach the Maritimes on Thursday and will bring daytime maximum temperatures above 30 degrees over inland areas of Nova Scotia on Friday.

Maximum daytime temperatures between 25 to 28 degrees are expected on Thursday. On Friday, hot and humid conditions will spread across the mainland, with maximum temperatures expected to reach or surpass 30 across many districts along with humidex values of 35 or more. Minimum temperatures overnight Friday into Saturday will remain between 18 to 20 degrees, providing little relief from the heat. Temperatures will remain cooler for coastal communities due to onshore breezes. Although maximum temperatures will be several degrees cooler on Saturday, higher humidity values will persist. Temperatures and humidity levels will fall later Saturday as a cold front approaches the province.
