Freezing rain warning in effect for:

St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County
Extended period of freezing rain and ice pellets expected on Tuesday.

Locations: Kent county, Grand Lake and Queens county, Oromocto and Sunbury county and northern Charlotte county.

Time span: early Tuesday morning until Tuesday afternoon.

Remarks: Snow will develop early Tuesday morning then change quickly to ice pellets and freezing rain. Precipitation will gradually change back to snow from west to east on Tuesday afternoon.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Extended period of Freezing rain and ice pellets expected tonight.

Locations: Mainland Nova Scotia except the extreme southwestern areas.

Time span: Tonight and early Tuesday morning.

Remarks: Freezing rain and ice pellets over parts of southern Nova Scotia will spread northward this evening reaching northern mainland Nova Scotia overnight. Many areas may receive at least 4 hours of freezing rain mixed with ice pellets. Near the Atlantic coast, temperatures are expected to rise above the freezing mark allowing a changeover to rain later tonight. Precipitation is expected to change to rain throughout the province by mid morning Tuesday.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 9 PM EST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected with some sleet possible, mainly
  along the Route 1 corridor. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9
  inches and sleet accumulations of around one quarter of an inch
  expected.

* WHERE...Northeast Aroostook, Northern Piscataquis, Northern
  Penobscot and Southeast Aroostook Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 9 PM EST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening
  commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow and sleet means severe winter
weather conditions will make travel extremely dangerous. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

Fredericton and Southern York County
Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected.

Locations: Northern, central and western new Brunswick.

Time span: early Tuesday morning until late Tuesday evening.

Remarks: Snow at times heavy will develop over southern New Brunswick early Tuesday morning and spread slowly northward during the day reaching northern sections near noon. Snow will likely mix with or briefly change to ice pellets with a risk of freezing rain for a time over all but northwestern New Brunswick. Snow will gradually taper to flurries later Tuesday evening.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Remarks: Snow will develop early Tuesday morning then change quickly to ice pellets then freezing rain later Tuesday morning. Precipitation will gradually change back to snow from west to east Tuesday afternoon.
