.A COLD FRONT WILL APPROACH LATER TODAY...THEN CROSS THE REGION
TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY. RAIN TOTALS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME. TEMPERATURES TODAY ARE EXPECTED TO
RANGE FROM THE UPPER 30S TO AROUND 40 NORTH...TO THE MID TO UPPER
40S DOWNEAST. THIS WILL PRODUCE MELTING SNOW ALONG WITH THE RAIN.
THE MELTING SNOW AND RAIN WILL CAUSE RISING RIVER LEVELS WHICH

PRESSURE DEEPENS OVER SOUTHERN CANADA...FOLLOWED BY A COLD FRONTAL
PASSAGE LATE TONIGHT. STORM TOTAL RAINFALL BETWEEN 1 AND 2 INCHES
WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IS EXPECTED FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. THE

Rainfall warning for
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West continued

Rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 millimetres are expected today and continue into Sunday morning.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

An intense low pressure system currently over the Great Lakes will track across Quebec tonight and Sunday. The system is forecast to push a warm front over the Maritimes. Rain associated with this system is currently over Western Nova Scotia and will spread eastward this afternoon and continue into Sunday. Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 millimetres are expected with highest amounts over western parts of the province and along the Atlantic coast.

Strong southerly winds and very mild temperatures will combine with the rainfall to cause significant melting of the existing snowpack thereby increasing the risk of flooding.

In addition, southeast winds gusting to 100 km/h are expected to develop in the Lee of the Cape Breton Highlands this evening.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

An intense low pressure system will push a warm front over the Maritimes today and Sunday. Significant rainfall and very mild temperatures are expected with this system. The precipitation will begin as freezing rain over most regions near noon or early this afternoon but will change to rain as temperatures climb above zero later this afternoon. Over northeastern regions the temperatures will be cooler, especially along the Bay of Chaleur coast where an easterly flow will maintain temperatures below zero well into the evening. The rain will continue into Sunday with significant amounts expected over much of the province. Over Western New Brunswick 30 to 40 millimetres is expected and up to 55 millimetres is forecast along the Fundy coast.
