 UPDATED 11:50 PM EDT Jul 23, 2016

WINDHAM, Maine —Severe thunderstorms rocked southern and central Maine for a second day, bringing down trees and power lines.

As of 5 p.m. Saturday, Central Maine Power reported about 3,000 outages. That number had fallen to about 500 by 6:30 p.m.

Several communities reported trees down.

"A new round of storms has caused new outages," Central Maine Power tweeted at 4 p.m. "Crews will restore as quickly and safely as possible. (Thanks) for your patience and understanding."

Numerous roads in Windham and Gorham are back open after severe storms brought down trees and power lines Friday.

Parts of River, Chute and Swett roads were blocked, Windham police said.
Swett Road is likely to remain closed until Monday, officials said.
