Discussion.

A low pressure system developed well south of the Maritimes on
Wednesday and intensified rapidly as it tracked northward and moved
east of Cape Breton Island early Thursday morning. This intense
system then stalled in that area for most of the day Thursday before
gradually pulling away to the east Thursday night.

This system brought heavy snow, some rain, and very strong winds to
Prince Edward Island on Thursday. Along north-facing coastal
regions, very high waves and some coastal flooding from storm surge
was reported.

Discussion.

A low pressure system developed well south of Nova Scotia on
Wednesday and intensified rapidly as it tracked northward and moved
east of Cape Breton Island early Thursday morning. This intense
system then stalled in that area for most of the day Thursday before
gradually pulling away to the east Thursday night.

This system brought snow, rain, and very strong winds to much of
Nova Scotia on Thursday. Along some coastal regions, very high waves
and some coastal flooding from storm surge was reported.

The highest snow amounts were generally received over northern and
eastern mainland Nova Scotia and over the Cape Breton Highlands. The
remainder of Cape Breton received the heaviest rainfall in the
province. The strongest winds were also reported in these areas.
