Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this additional rainfall and melt water.

Locations: south shore of Nova Scotia from Lunenburg county to Shelburne.

Total rainfall: 25 to 30 mm (following 2 to 4 cm of snow).

Time span: Tuesday mid-day until late Tuesday evening.

Remarks: The heavy rainfall is forecast to be preceded briefly by a period of snow near noon on Tuesday. Clear storm drains of ice and debris to help with local drainage. This rainfall warning may be expanded further east as this weather event nears.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
