DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the remnants of Claudette were located

near latitude 39.0 North, longitude 69.0 West.  The remnants are

moving toward the east-northeast near 29 mph (46 km/h) and this

general motion is expected to continue for the next day or so.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.

Weakening is forecast during the next 24 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km)

from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).

Recent scatterometer data show that the system has opened up into a 

northwest to southeast-oriented trough.  Therefore Claudette has 

dissipated as a tropical cyclone and this is the last advisory.  The 

remnants of Claudette should continue to move rapidly 

east-northeastward and weaken over the next day or so.

1. Summary of basic information at 9:00 p.m. ADT.

Location: 38.2 North 70.6 West.

About 340 km South of Nantucket, Massachusetts

Maximum sustained winds: 75 kilometres per hour.

Present movement: Northeast at 45 kilometres per hour.

Minimum central pressure: 1004 mb.

2. Public weather impacts and warnings summary.

Showers at times heavy are likely over parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Tuesday and Tuesday night.

a. Wind.

Gusty winds are possible over parts of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. However, these winds are expected to be much less than warning criteria of 90 km/h.

b. Rainfall.

Showers at times heavy may produce significant amounts of rain in a very short period of time over some localities. This may cause pooling of water and localized flooding in vulnerable areas. However, total rainfall amounts are not expected to be near warning criteria of 50 millimetres.

c. Surge/Waves.

No significant waves or storm surge are expected with Claudette.

3. Marine weather impacts and warnings summary.

Winds will approach gale-force over the offshore waters of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
