...ARCTIC AIR MOVES IN OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AHEAD OF A STRONG STORM
SYSTEM FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY...
.An Arctic airmass will move in tonight ahead of a developing
area of low pressure which may bring significant snowfall to
parts of the region. The combination of below zero temperatures
along with northwesterly winds will result in windchills down to
25 below zero tonight. On Wednesday morning an area of low
pressure will be forming over the southeastern U.S. as a strong
area of high pressure remains in place to our north over Canada.
This low will quickly track northeastward before moving offshore
of the Delmarva and track near Cape Cod by early Thursday
morning. Beyond this point there remains uncertainty in the
proximity of the low to the northern New England coastline as a
track closer to the coast would result in heavier snowfall
amounts but a track farther offshore would result in lower
snowfall. There is growing confidence for at least a moderate
snowfall event across the watch area. The low will then track
into Nova Scotia by Friday afternoon.

THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Snowfall totals of 6 or more
inches possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central and southern New Hampshire and
southwest Maine.
* WHEN...From Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute Thursday.

Special weather statement in effect for:
Guysborough County
Significant snowfall may occur on Thursday.
Locations: most of mainland Nova Scotia
Time span: Beginning Thursday morning and ending early Friday morning.
Remarks: There is considerable uncertainty as to the amount of snowfall these regions will receive. However, current indications are that there is the potential for accumulations greater than 15 cm to occur in some areas of mainland Nova Scotia Thursday. As with most storms that pass south of Nova Scotia, a small difference in the forecast track will could result in a significant change in the snowfall forecast.
