Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.

An arctic airmass will move over Cape Breton Island during the day Thursday. The cold air over the open waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence will create favourable conditions for flurries and snow squalls Thursday night and Friday. In addition strong northwest winds gusting up to 80 km/h will give very poor visibilities in blowing snow.

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.
