...FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST WEDNESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Freezing
Rain Advisory...which is in effect until 1 AM EST Wednesday.

* LOCATIONS...Northeast Maine.

* HAZARD TYPES...Freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet and
  snow.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...Less than a tenth of an inch.

* TIMING...Through early morning.

* IMPACTS...Expect some minor travel difficulties. A thin glaze
  of ice will produce slippery conditions.

* WINDS...South 10 to 20 mph.

* TEMPERATURES...In the upper 20s to lower 30s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.

...Wintry mix expected this afternoon and evening...

.Precipitation will move in from the west this morning while a
storm system approaches New England. Warm air aloft will be drawn
in allowing snow to mix with sleet and rain for most of the area.
Surface temperatures will remain below freezing in the North Woods
this afternoon, resulting in a glaze of ice into tonight as the
freezing rain accumulates.

* TIMING...Mid-afternoon through midnight tonight.

* IMPACTS...Expect some minor travel difficulties. A thin glaze
  of ice will produce slippery conditions.

* WINDS...South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* TEMPERATURES...In the lower 30s.

Freezing rain warning in effect for:

Woodstock and Carleton County
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

Flurries or periods of light snow will spread across New Brunswick today then become mixed with ice pellets early this evening then change to periods of freezing rain late in the evening. The freezing rain is expected to persist for several hours overnight then change to rain by Wednesday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
