SPECIAL WEATHER SUMMARY MESSAGE FOR NOVA SCOTIA ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT
CANADA AT 3:21 AM AST TUESDAY 28 DECEMBER 2010.

A MAJOR LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVED UP THE AMERICAN EASTERN SEABOARD
ON SUNDAY AND INTO THE MARITIMES ON MONDAY. ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC 
STATES AND NEW ENGLAND BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WERE EXPERIENCED WHILE
THE IMPACTS ACROSS THE MARITIMES INCLUDED BLIZZARD CONDITIONS, 
RAINFALL, WIND AND STORM SURGE. THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DRIFT 
ACROSS THE GULF OF ST. LAWRENCE ON TUESDAY GIVING PERIODS OF SNOW
AND STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS IN ITS WAKE.

SPECIAL WEATHER SUMMARY MESSAGE FOR NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR ISSUED 
BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 8:17 AM NST TUESDAY 28 DECEMBER 2010.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEVELOPED OFF CAPE HATTERAS ON SUNDAY AND MOVED 
TO LIE NEAR CAPE COD ON MONDAY MORNING.  THE LOW SLOWLY TRACKED 
NORTHEASTWARD ON MONDAY TO LIE JUST OFF THE SOUTH COAST OF NOVA
SCOTIA.  THIS LOW PUSHED PRECIPITATION AND HIGH WINDS AHEAD OF IT 
INTO SOUTHWESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND MONDAY MORNING, SPREADING TO THE REST 
OF THE ISLAND DURING THE DAY.  PRECIPITATION BEGAN AS SNOW IN MOST 
AREAS THEN CHANGED TO RAIN. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WERE HIGHEST IN 
WESTERN NEWFOUNDLAND AND UP THROUGH THE NORTHERN PENINSULA. RAINFALL 
ACCUMULATIONS WERE LARGEST ALONG THE SOUTH COAST. HIGH WINDS WERE 
REPORTED ACROSS MUCH OF THE PROVINCE REACHING OVER 100 KM/H IN THE 
WRECKHOUSE AREA, ALONG THE SOUTH COAST, THE AVALON PENINSULA AND 
PARTS OF THE WEST AND NORTHEAST COAST.
