Rainfall warning in effect for:
  • Lunenburg County
Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow-moving low pressure system will approach Nova Scotia tonight. Rain will develop over southern Nova Scotia overnight and spread throughout the mainland on Wednesday. Periods of rain are expected to continue into Friday.
The rain will be heavy at times and there is a risk of embedded thundershowers which could cause local heavy downpours. Total rainfall amounts of up to 50 millimetres are forecast by Thursday morning over southwestern Nova Scotia. Further rainfall could bring the totals significantly higher by the end of the week.
Please monitor future forecasts as warnings will likely be extended to other parts of the province.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Stay up to date with Weatheradio or your local media. Email reports of severe weather to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or call 1-877-815-9900. You may tweet reports using the hashtag #NSStorm.

An extended period of rainfall expected for the province.
A slow-moving low pressure system approaching the Maritimes from the southwest will begin to spread rain across the province overnight tonight. Rain associated with the system will continue over the next several days with significant amounts possible. At this time the highest rainfall amounts are likely along the Fundy coast with 40 millimetres forecast by Thursday morning. However, rain will continue in the days following giving further amounts elsewhere throughout the province.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
