.SYNOPSIS...

Saturday, then exit across the Maritimes Sunday.....

.....SHORT TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...

High pressure will cross the region Thursday with mostly/partly

sunny skies north, mostly sunny Downeast. High pressure will

then move east Thursday night, with a cold front approaching

northern areas late. Expect increasing clouds Thursday night

with a chance of snow showers north, slight chance Downeast. The

cold front crosses the region Friday with mostly cloudy skies

along with a chance of snow showers. Any snow accumulations

Friday should be an inch or less. The cold front exits across

the Gulf of Maine Friday night, while an ocean low intensifies

east of the Mid-Atlantic region. Expect partly/mostly cloudy

skies along with a chance of evening snow showers across

northern areas Friday night. Across Downeast areas, expect

&&

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...

A deepening upper trof, upper level jet support and phasing of

northern and southern stream energy will allow the low to

rapidly deepen while lifting northeast Saturday. A closing upper

level low will capture the surface low later Saturday into

Saturday night. Uncertainty still exists regarding the track

and intensity of the low. Snow will expand north across the

region from later Friday night through Saturday afternoon. Snow

will then persist Saturday night through early Sunday, tapering

to snow showers Sunday afternoon in the wake of the exiting

vertically stacked surface/upper lows. Snow totals remain

uncertain at this time and will be dependent on the eventual

track of the low. Strong gusty winds will also develop Saturday

and persist into Sunday producing areas of blowing snow. High

pressure will cross the region Monday then exit to the east

Tuesday with mostly clear/partly cloudy skies. Below normal

level temperatures are expected Saturday/Sunday, with near

normal level temperatures Monday/Tuesday.....
