Snowfall warning in effect for:

Sydney Metro and Cape Breton County
Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected.

Weekend snowfall.

Total snowfall: 15 cm or more.

Maximum wind gusts: 40 to 60 km/h possible.

Locations: eastern mainland and Cape Breton.

Time span: Saturday night ending early Sunday.

Remarks: A developing storm over the Atlantic will spread snow across eastern Nova Scotia late Saturday. Most of the accumulation is expected Saturday night, and the highest totals will likely occur over Guysborough, Richmond and Sydney counties. Also, rain will likely mix with the snow along the Atlantic coast before the precipitation ends early Sunday.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Weekend snowfall.

Total snowfall: potentially 15 cm.

Maximum wind gusts: 40 to 60 km/h possible.

Locations: eastern Nova Scotia.

Time span: Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.

Remarks: A developing storm over the Atlantic may affect parts of Nova Scotia Saturday night. Snow is expected to spread across the southern half of mainland Nova Scotia Saturday afternoon, and most of the accumulation is expected Saturday night. Confidence in this aspect of the forecast has increased because the latest forecast guidance is now indicating much lower values for the potential amounts. Also, rain will likely mix with the snow along the Atlantic coast before the precipitation ends early Sunday.
