Winter storm warning in effect for:

Queens County P.E.I.
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A low pressure system will approach from the west today. The low will track across southern New Brunswick tonight before moving into the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Monday.

Snow at times heavy and strong southeasterly winds gusting up to 80 km/h are expected to spread into Prince Edward Island tonight. The snow will gradually taper to flurries on Monday. A period of ice pellets and rain are expected to occur over Queens County before the precipitation changes to flurries.

Snowfall accumulations are expected to be in the 15 to 25 centimetre range. The lesser amounts are likely over Queens County where ice pellets and rain are likely.

Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
