Mount Carleton - Renous Highway

Rainfall warning for
Mount Carleton - Renous Highway continued
50 to 100 millimetres of rain expected by Sunday morning.
This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.
A weather system stretching from the Eastern Seaboard to Atlantic Canada will stall over the Maritimes during the weekend. Moisture of tropical origin will wrap around this feature and produce general rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 millimetres across much of the province by Sunday morning. Over the Fundy region where the heaviest rain is expected amounts may exceed 100 millimetres. The rain will likely persist for the rest of the weekend however lesser amounts are expected on Sunday.
FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following weather advisory was issued today by River Watch 2013:
Environment Canada has forecast heavy rainfall for New Brunswick. Amounts of 50 to 75 millimetres are forecast for central, southeastern and southwestern New Brunswick by late Saturday, May 25. The Fundy region is expected to receive 80 to 120 millimetres by late Saturday. The rain will likely persist for the entire weekend; however, lesser amounts are expected on Sunday, May 26.
As a result, water flows and levels will be slightly elevated throughout the St. John River basin. While this weather is not expected to have an immediate effect on major river systems, it could lead to localized flooding, particularly where normal drainage systems are overwhelmed. Areas of poor drainage may sustain standing water, and minor flooding of basements may occur. People living or working along streams, tributaries and small rivers are reminded to be on alert.
Homeowners who have experienced flooding during heavy rain storms in the past through localized flooding should take all necessary precautions. They should ensure that rain gutters, culverts and ditches are free from debris and leaves.
People with boats, recreational furniture and equipment should move them to higher ground. Those who have cattle on islands should take the necessary precautions to protect their livestock.
Because driving conditions may be hazardous, drivers should adjust their driving to road conditions. A list of weather warnings is available from Environment Canada and a variety of self-help advice is available from the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization.
