ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 4:49 AM AST SUNDAY 1 JANUARY 2012.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT TRACKED SOUTH OF NOVA SCOTIA GAVE A
SIGNIFICANT PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN TO MUCH OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN
NEW BRUNSWICK ON NEW YEARS EVE. IN ADDITION PORTIONS OF NORTHERN NEW
BRUNSWICK RECEIVED SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL.

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME DURATIONS OF FREEZING RAIN THAT WERE RECEIVED
AS OF 3:00 AM SUNDAY, JANUARY 1.

MONCTON AIRPORT.....................3 AND A HALF HOURS
GAGETOWN............................6 HOURS
BATHURST............................10 HOURS (MIXED WITH ICE PELLETS)

AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKED ACROSS SOUTHERN NOVA
SCOTIA OVERNIGHT AND WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST
TODAY. THIS STORM BROUGHT 20 TO 30 MM OF RAIN TO SECTIONS
OF NOVA SCOTIA AND STRONG LES SUETES WINDS TO CAPE BRETON.
