The province of New Brunswick says water levels along the St. John River are expected to remain high but stable this weekend.

Flood warnings have been issued for some communities along the river and a portion of Highway 690 McGowan's corner was closed last night until further notice.

Several rivers have reached flood stage, including the Jemseg and near Sheffield - Lakeville Corner.

Last weekend the village of Perth-Andover issued a state of emergency when ice jams created a risk of flooding.

Around 300 people were evacuated from low-lying areas of the community.
