A developing low pressure system over the Great Lakes will track towards the Maritimes today. The low will track across the Bay of Fundy tonight. Periods of snow will begin near noon and will change over to rain this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 20 to 35 millimetres of rain are forecast for today and early Sunday.

Pictou County continued

Periods of rain will begin near noon with amounts of 25 to 40 millimetres expected by Sunday morning.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A developing low pressure system over the Great Lakes will track towards the Maritimes today. The low will move across the Bay of Fundy tonight and lie east of Cape Breton Sunday. Precipitation will begin near noon and will spread eastward across the province this afternoon. All areas will see rain however over northern areas the precipitation will likely begin as snow. Northern areas may also experience a brief period of freezing rain before changing over to rain. Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 millimetres are forecast for most of the province.

Les Suetes winds gusting to 80 km/h will develop this afternoon and increase to 100 km/h this evening into the overnight hours.

Snow at times heavy will develop overnight and persist Sunday giving 15 to 25 cm.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system over the Great Lakes will track northeastward and pass south of Newfoundland on Sunday. Snow at times heavy will develop overnight and persist on Sunday with 15 to 25 cm expected over Eastern Newfoundland.

Additionally, strong southeasterly winds will develop overnight in the Wreckhouse area with gusts up to 110 km/h.

Most of southern, central, and Northeastern Newfoundland as well as the Avalon Peninsula will also see a variety of wintry weather overnight and Sunday and a special weather statement has been issued for these areas. Motorists travelling across the island on Sunday should view this statement and monitor future forecasts as additional warnings might be required.
Fredericton and Southern York County

Freezing rain warning for
Fredericton and Southern York County continued

An extended period of freezing rain is expected in these regions today.

A developing low pressure system over the Great Lakes will track eastward across the Maritimes tonight. This system will bring precipitation across all of New Brunswick today. Brief periods of freezing rain or ice pellets are expected over southern parts of the province as the precipitation turns into rain early this afternoon. However as the rain snow boundary pushes further north an extended period of freezing rain will develop over central regions and later over northeastern regions. In the north snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are expected today and tonight.

As the system prepares to leave the Maritimes early on new years day brisk northerly winds will develop causing some blowing snow over northeastern regions.
