This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Far Northern Maine and North

Woods Maine.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

A significant snowfall is possible across the North Woods late

Wednesday through Thursday, which could lead to tree damage and

dangerous travel conditions. Strong wind gusts are also possible

Thursday afternoon through Friday.

...Elevated Fire Weather Danger Predicted Today...

A dry air mass over the area and breezy conditions will combine

with dead and dry fuels such as grass, leaves, and twigs to create

the potential for uncontrolled fire spread across interior

Downeast, portions of the Central Highlands, and the Penobscot

Vally today. This afternoon, relative humidities will decrease to

between 30 to 35 percent. At the same time, southwest winds

between 10 to 15 mph with frequent gusts to 20 to 25 mph will

continue to dry fuels and increase fire spread potential. Wind

gusts are expected to diminish later this evening with increasing

relative humidity values.

Check with your local fire department or forestry office before

doing any burning. Please remember that a burn permit is required

for all burning. Never leave an open fire unattended and always

extinguish campfires completely before leaving.

Special weather statement in effect for:

Grand Falls and Victoria County

Significant spring snowfall expected.

Total snowfall: possibly 15 cm or more.

Locations: Madawaska, Victoria, and Restigouche counties.

Time span: Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

Remarks: A significant snowfall is likely across northwestern New Brunswick. Current forecast guidance is suggesting that the precipitation will begin as rain Wednesday afternoon and then change to snow Wednesday night and persist Thursday into Friday. Freezing rain is possible during the transition from rain to snow. Brisk northwest winds will develop in the wake of this system.

Conditions should improve later on Friday.
