A Second Surprise Flood Event In Nova Scotia

Discussion.

Overnight Friday an intense band of rain and thundershowers 
developed over the southwest shore of Nova Scotia. This band moved 
over central and eastern Nova Scotia early Saturday morning. The 
rain moved into Cape Breton later in the day Saturday. Rainfall 
rates in excess of 30 mm per hour were observed which lead to 
flooding in some low lying areas. While the areas of heaviest 
rainfall were widely varied rainfall amounts close to 150 mm have 
been reported.
