...Major Winter Storm Likely Tonight Into Sunday...
.Rain will transition to snow across the far north tonight,
possibly heavy at times into Sunday. Meanwhile, an area of sleet
and freezing rain will impact the Central Highlands, Upper
Penobscot Valley, and Southern Aroostook areas. Up to 2 inches of
sleet is possible for central portions of the region and around a
half inch of ice will be possible across portions of Interior and
Coastal Downeast through Sunday evening.

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total snow accumulations of
up to one inch, sleet accumulations of around one half of an
inch and ice accumulations of one quarter to one half of an
inch expected.
* WHERE...Southern Penobscot, Interior Hancock, Central
Washington and Coastal Washington Counties.
* WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Sunday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Power outages and tree damage are likely
due to the ice. Travel could be very dangerous.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
An Ice Storm Warning means significant amounts of ice
accumulation will make travel extremely dangerous. Travel is
strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Snapped power lines and falling tree branches are also
possible.

far northern New Hampshire through central and midcoast Maine. The

Freezing rain warning in effect for:
Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Rain and warm temperatures for today followed by freezing rain, rain and ice
pellets on Sunday.
Total rainfall: 10-30 mm tonight and Sunday morning.
Freezing rain: significant ice accretion likely overnight tonight into Sunday, with the most accretion expected over parts of the Annapolis Valley and central and eastern areas of mainland Nova Scotia. Freezing rain ending Sunday evening.
Winds: gusts to 70-80 km/h in the Tantramar Marsh region today. Gusts
of 40 km/h on Sunday over northern areas.
Locations: Nova Scotia, excluding southwesternmost regions and northern Cape Breton.
Remarks: rain and very mild temperatures associated with brisk southwest winds can be expected today and this evening. Temperatures will fall rapidly overnight tonight over northern areas of the province and over most other areas of the province early on Sunday morning. Rain will change to freezing rain or ice pellets over much of the province by early Sunday morning. These conditions are expected to persist throughout the day Sunday.
Significant impacts from these changing precipitation types are likely.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Utility outages may occur. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Woodstock and Carleton County
Mixed precipitation today followed by significant amounts of snow and ice pellets on Sunday.
Total ice pellets and snowfall amounts: 15 to 30 cm, possibly higher.
Total rainfall: 5 to 10 mm.
Maximum wind gusts: 50 km/h.
Locations: central and northern New Brunswick.
Time span: early Sunday morning until Sunday evening.
Remarks: Periods of snow and freezing rain this morning will change to rain as temperatures climb above the freezing mark by this afternoon. Rain will then change to snow and ice pellets tonight and persist into Sunday as temperatures fall rapidly. The accumulation of snow and ice pellets for central regions will likely be highly variable, depending on how much of the precipitation remains as ice pellets throughout the day.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Rain and warm temperatures today followed by freezing rain and ice pellets on Sunday.
Total rainfall: 10-20 mm.
Freezing rain: significant ice accretion possible, especially over the Fundy region and southwestern areas.
Ice pellets: 5 to 10 cm possible.
Winds: gusts to 70-80 km/h in the Fundy and Tantramar Marsh region this afternoon. Widespread gusts to 50 km/h on Sunday.
Locations: southern New Brunswick.
Remarks: showers or periods of rain today will continue tonight then change to freezing rain early Sunday morning then over to ice pellets for more central areas Sunday afternoon as temperatures fall rapidly during the day. For the Fundy region and southwestern areas, precipitation on Sunday is expected to fall primarily as freezing rain.

Wind gusts: 70 km/h this afternoon and evening. 50 km/h on Sunday.
Time span: overnight tonight and Sunday, ending Sunday evening.
Remarks: Rain, very mild temperatures and brisk southwest winds this afternoon and tonight will change to ice pellets overnight tonight as temperatures drop rapidly once the wind changes to northerly. There is also a risk of freezing rain. Ice pellets are expected to mix with, or change to, snow on Sunday morning. The accumulation of snow and ice pellets will likely be highly variable, depending on how much of the precipitation remains as ice pellets throughout the day.
