Rainfall warning for

Fredericton and Southern York County continued

Up to 35 millimetres of rain expected beginning this afternoon.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system south of the Great Lakes is forecast to move towards the Maritimes today and track across New Brunswick overnight and Thursday morning. The precipitation will start over western sections of the province late this afternoon and reach eastern sections this evening. Southern New Brunswick will see significant amounts of rain while central and northern regions can expect a mixture of snow..Rain..Ice pellets and freezing rain.

If indications of a prolonged period of freezing rain become apparent then a freezing rain warning may be issued for northeastern regions of the province later this afternoon.

RIVERS CONTINUE TO RISE IN RESPONSE TO SNOW MELT BUT REMAIN WELL

BELOW FLOOD STAGE. ICE MOVING ON THE ST JOHN AND ALLAGASH RIVERS

MAY CAUSE ICE JAMS DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO. ELSEWHERE...RIVERS

ARE MAINLY ICE FREE. RAIN COMBINED WITH SNOW MELT WILL ADD TO

RISES ON THE RIVERS THROUGH TONIGHT. FLOOD WATCHES MAY BE ISSUED

IN THE NEXT DAY OR TWO IF THE PROBABILITY OF WATER LEVELS REACHING

FLOOD STAGE INCREASES.
