......LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Fri AM starts mild in the mid to upper 50s, cloudy with showers
slowly departing to the east with some patchy fog. Another
shortwave will approach from the west and we do expect some
breaks in the clouds to provide some daytime heating. Afternoon
showers & storms will be possible with best chance of storms
across the Bangor region to interior Washington county. Timing
of the storms & coverage is hard to determine at this point but
do expect some convection to be around. Highs will climb into
the upper 70s to low 80s with a cool sea breeze at the shore.
That clears the coast Fri night and with light flow and wet
grounds expect patchy fog to form with lows Sat AM in the mid to
upper 50s. A cold front will approach from the NW by Sat PM
likely sparking off more showers and storms. The best chance of
convection this time will be across the north into the Central
Highlands but once again will be dependent on daytime heating.
The partly sunny skies will likely result in warmer highs with
temperatures climbing into the low to mid 80s but once again
cooler at the coast with a sea breeze. Sun expect that front to
stall to our south with a dry warm west flow setting up given
the 500mb ridging taking over to our SW. Highs will climb into
the low to mid 80s north, mid to upper 80s across the Highlands
into Bangor area. Along the immediate coast expect a sea breeze
to form as the flow will be weak and winds shift SW in the
afternoon with the large temperature imbalance. Sun night into
Monday the stalled boundary will lift back NE with a SW flow
developing again. 594dam 500mb ridge setting up over the Mid
Atlantic coast will begin to pump much warmer air into the
region. This will pump +20C to +22C 925mb temps into the region
resulting in highs in the upper 80s to low 90s from northern to
southern zones. This would break daily records for Monday at
CAR, HUL, MLT, BGR. This heat looks to last into mid next week
with potential for more record breaking days.
